I’m a Glaswegian who has lived more of my life in Perth, Western Australia, than in Scotland. Along with My wife Linda and daughter Laura, we arrived here in March 1978, yet even now, when meeting people for the first time, some think I’ve just arrived. I am married with two children, two grandchildren, and a Border Collie.

I worked as a licensed electrician mainly on large industrial construction projects throughout Western Australia. I was elected as an official for the Electrical Trades Union in 1991. I retired from work in 2017 after serving the last 12 years as the State Secretary.

Now that I have thrown off the shackles and chains of paid work, I have immersed myself in a number of new interests, from writing fiction to learning the piano and regular exercise.

I enjoy writing fiction my first book published was “Project Damocles,” my second book is “Craigmarr’s Lament.” I have just published my third book, “Spandau Citadel.”

Over the years, I have had the opportunity to visit a number of countries on holiday, and as well as writing fiction, I have recently started documenting my past trips.

When we arrived in Australia, we knew it would be years before we could take a family holiday back in Scotland. In fact, it took ten years before our first holiday back.

Right from the start Linda and I decided travel would be our biggest expense outside the family and house. And after every holiday we started saving up for our next one. We also had a strategy to incorporate stopovers on our trips, hence multiple Travel Blog entries for the same year. Our stopovers ranged from Singapore, Hong Kong, Rome, Moscow, Bangkok and New York, to name a few.

My main interests are; writing, photography, reading, spending time with family, and walking my Border Collie. Some of my favourite authors are Arthur Conan Doyle’s -Sherlock Holmes, to Alistair MacLean, Robert Ludlum’s-Bourne series, Dan Brown,  George Orwell, Connie Willis and Jodi Taylor.  Movies I have enjoyed are The Godfather Trilogy, The Bourne Series, some not all Bond movies, The Great Escape, The Hustler, The Gladiator, Braveheart, Zulu

I also enjoy studying military history and strategies, such as SUN TZU’s Art of War.

My most recent adventure was walking the Kokoda Trail in PNG
